Outdoorsy Kinda Guy

Yesterday I learned all about how to survive in the wilderness, when you go camping. I learned about hypothermia and how to treat each stage of it. We also learned how to dress properly for hiking in all types of weather conditions and what types of material to wear. My professor talked about how to properly purify water and how to create a "safe" environment for yourself. I also learned what to eat and how much so that I will not lose energy.

Umoja

The dance I learned in class last week was called Umoja. It is a very interesting dance that originated in Africa and is very spiritual. It involves a lot of arm movement where you "praise the gods" and stamping on the ground beating on the bad spirits. This dance is very simple and consists of, "planting, birds, and circle-shake collapse". These things are the steps of the dance and even though it is pretty simple to learn it is very deep in meaning.

Interactive Power Point.........

This interactive power point is not too bad of a project to work on for this class. I still have all week to finish it up so that I can turn it in of Tuesday. I can find all the information I need on my topic and can make all of the slides without a problem. Designing the slides is a pretty easy thing to do but linking the slides together can be a pain. Since I have to make one slide as the the last slide viewed I am having a blast finishing this project!

Walk Jog

The other day I participated in my walk jog class and found out that I was in a lot better shape than I thought. I was able to run about 3 and 1/2 miles in about 25 minutes without stopping and taking a break. I was also impressed by how much I was able to lift a substantial amount of weight without any struggle. I am really happy that I took the class because I have become a lot more fit and am hooked on exercise! I feel so much better when I exercise and doing it for a grade is even better!

Schools of Dance.......

The Wednesday before spring break I got together with my group and choreographed a dance that we had to perform in front of our entire class that day. So we came in all dressed in Wild Western attire and unleashed the southern style moves we had. It was interesting on how it turned into a pretty cool dance from just a bunch of walking and jumping! I was pretty stoked when our class clapped at the end of the dance and what comments they had about what we did. Dance fundamentals definitely makes you rethink what you are capable of doing!

Extreme Adventure/ Deathdefying!!!!

Today I got to expierence the adrenaline rush of climbing the rock wall at the ARC. It was like something out of a movie, I was hanging there off of a ledge and just straining to find a spot to grab. I found one and was able to continue climbing. Unfortunately it was only like 15 feet up the wall before Mr. Smith told us to come down. So I did all of the call signs and came down. I cannot wait to do it again!

Bowling- Hittin the Pins Hard!

I haven't gone bowling in about a month and am starting to feel the itch again. Unfortunately Slippery Rock Lanes is only open during certain hours of the week and I usually work during those hours. I know there is another bowling alley in Grove City and may try there this weekend to try them out. I have bowled in the past and consider it a fun thing to do if you have nothing else to do! You can also get pretty competitive with your friends and have a blast! So go out with your friends, relax, and enjoy a good old game of bowling!
