Rock Climbing

Today in my Outdoor Pursuits class we practiced tying figure 8 knots and backup knots. We also learned how to a tie bite and double bite figure 8 knots. We practiced the commands of climbing and belaying in which the climber and belayer will communicate to eachother to successfully climb up the wall. We also learned how to properly check our equiptment so that we may climb safely and without resulting in a serious injury. Towards the end of class we all got to practice belaying and using the proper method so that the climber does not fall.

  1. I'm also in Outdoor Pursuits class. I'm excited to go to the climbing wall on Tuesday. I've only been to the climbing wall once at the ARC and that was last year. Other than that I have no climbing experience at all. I can't wait until we actually get to go outside and do activities at the ropes course as well.
